OU Front

No good deed goes unpunished.

Riley Masters learns this the hard way when she finds a wallet and decides to do the right thing. But returning it will cost her much more than she bargains for.

Abandoned by her mother, raised by an indifferent father, Riley has accepted the fact that she would be alone always. She has no idea that a single act of kindness would propel her into a world where creatures that shouldn’t exist guard the human race from the demons that lurk in the shadows. That it will cost her the lives of those she loves while unearthing a destiny she never imagined with a man who is forbidden to love her. She finds passion, romance and the family she’d been searching for her entire life, but at what cost and what is she willing to sacrifice to find answers and happiness?

Octavian Maxwell has always known his place. He is a Caster, a Son of Judgment. His job is to protect the mortal world from the creatures plotting to destroy it. Instead, his world is shattered when a human girl walks into Final Judgment, a girl he has been searching for his entire life, a girl he is forbidden to ever touch. Being with her will break the oath he’s sworn to never love a mortal. But his heart has already found its mate and it refuses to let go.

Final Judgment… a place undetected, a gateway to evil and a legend that will undo everything anyone has ever known about our world.

His love will become her curse.

For centuries, Gideon has kept his secret, knowing that it could mean the life of the woman whose very heartbeat was his reason for living. But when Veil Creatures are slaughtered in their homes by those sworn to protect them, it may be up to him to save those he loves from a fate worse than death. What he doesn’t expect is the betrayal and a choice that could leave his family devastated.

Valkyrie Devereaux believes only in the power of justice, loyalty and obeying the laws of her people. Love was something to be feared and she had been taught long ago that anything that could make you weak, needed to be eliminated. But when she is assigned to join the Casters of the north in hunting down the creatures killing the innocent, even she can’t help the twang of longing for something that goes against everything she was raised to believe was wrong.

Like fire and gasoline, passions collide. Heat erupts as they fight against their desires and their very nature. But a fire like theirs can never be smothered. It can never be stopped. It can only burn to unimaginable heights, but what happens when it careens out of control and destroys everything around them? And who is waiting for that exact moment to destroy the brothers?

She will become his death.

WIP Update

Progress reports died really quick… I thought I’d be able to keep that one up through November, at the very least.

I never remember to come back and blog… Oh, well. Eventually, I’ll get the hang of it.

On to business!

The Blind World (Brimstone Series Book One) is done with first round edits. I’m typing it up again from the start so I can give it another small polishing round before sending it off to beta readers. (Not that I even have beta readers yet. If you’d like to sign up, you can access the form here.)

Nineteen-year-old Miranda Schaffer’s freshman year turns out to be more than she bargained for when her classmate, Cole, tries to convince her that her house sits on the gateway to Hell. Cole identifies himself as a Guardian, whose sole purpose in life is to prevent the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from completing their rituals to raise Hell.

On top of that, the cute real estate agent interested in the house is, according to Cole, one of the Four Horsemen, and she should stay away from him at all costs. That’s easier said than done when she can’t get him out of her head.

Will her indecision leave her with Hell to pay?

I’m putting Missing You on hiatus. because I can’t seem to be able to put down the Brimstone series long enough to work on it. I will be reviving it the first chance I get.

I’ve started writing The Melancholy Storm (Brimstone Series Book Two) but I don’t want to get distracted by it too much while TBW still isn’t done all the way.

It’s just a small update, but I’m working really hard on this series. It’s coming along so nicely!

Until next time!

Facebook Fan Page?!

Now that I’ve finished my first book, I’m on the lookout for readers!

No, you won’t actually get your hands on the book until at least the end of January.

Why should you ‘like’ me, then? Well, because only people who ‘like’ me will get to hear about news.

That’s not true, though, is it? You can also follow me. No, not like a stalker! …Well, I guess it could be considered a form of stalking.

Like‘ or follow me so you can learn more about my upcoming books and keep up with everything going on in my writing world.

Progress Report: NaNoWriMo #1

November_1Woot! It’s NaNoWriMo time! That means National Novel Writing Month, for those of you who aren’t aware. I’m resuming work on book 1 of the Brimstone series.

Despite my rocky start, I’m pretty much on track with where I want to be. (I’m a little behind my personal goal, but I’ll be writing for the rest of today to catch up.)

NaNoWriMo word count: 23,425, before writing on day 7

The Blind World word count: 63,451

Page count: 134

It’s really coming along! I’ll finish it up before I reach the goal of 50,000 words for the month, and at that point, I’ll be putting work in on Missing You.

Exciting stuff!

See you next week,

Progress Report: September

sept_2014I didn’t get much writing done this month (I’m dealing with massive moving dilemmas, among other stressful things), but I did manage to edit what I’ve got thus far for The Blind Word (Brimstone #1). Holy cow! Whenever I glanced at the document it’s all written in, it never seemed like it was coming along this nicely!

Word count to-date: 37,173

Page count to-date (8.5″x 11″): 80

Along with making meager progress on TBW, I’ve made a very loose outline for Missing You, as well as a mock cover for when it’s complete. I’ve also come to the conclusion that I like that title very much. It might not be a working title for much longer… 😉 Missing You will probably be published around mid-March 2015, though I make no promises. It’s guaranteed to be a heart-wrenching book, and the tear-jerking scenes might just kill me.

I know for certain I will self-publish Missing You, and it will come out before TBW.

“Why?” you ask? The answer is simple: since Brimstone will be a nine book series (with the potential for a few side novellas revolving around some of the main characters), I don’t want to publish the first book until I have the second book finished and the third one started. I don’t want anyone who might love the series to have to wait an obscenely long time in between book releases.

So after Missing You is written, I’ll be able to focus on the writing of Brimstone books 2 & 3 while I get it polished and ready for publication.

During October, I won’t be putting much work into these projects at all, because my family will be packing, moving, and getting settled in at our new apartment. For that reason, I won’t post a progress report for October. I will, however, be participating in NaNoWriMo, so there will be weekly progress reports in November to make up for it. 🙂

Until then,

If you’re here, chances are you already know me (somewhat). But here’s a recap:

  • I love to read and write.
  • My goal is to become a published author, whether through traditional means, small press, or on my own.
  • I use way too many things to procrastinate (including setting up this website).

For the foreseeable future, I plan to use this blog to keep track of my writing progress and ideas, as well as to update anyone who wants to know about my journey from first draft to (hopefully) published author.

Thanks for taking the time to join me on this journey!
